The Cool Blue Box Company are introducing a unique, robust, returnable box that will revolutionise the transportation of fish. To see how Cool Blue Box Company could benefit you, let's look firstly at the existing problems associated with the most common existing form of fish transportation.
In addition to the generic problems associated with the use of polystyrene boxes, each of the three fish industry sectors - the suppliers, the processors and the distributors, have their own specific set of problems.
The Supplier
Damage to the texture and leaching of harmful byzene and styrene from the polystrene into the fish.
The cost of manufacture and storage of ice.
The lack of cost control with the purchase price of polystyrene boxes being directly related to fluctuations of oil prices.
Traceability legislation dictating the need for costly and unhygienic labelling.
High bulk of polystyrene boxes both creating storage problems and contributing to non cost effective transportation.
The Processor
High Contribution to declared carbon footprint levels on packaging.
Cost of storage of used boxes.
Cost of crushing and disposal of the 'one time use' boxes plus the investment cost of dedicated machinery.
Cost and environmental implications if disposal of accompanying used ice.
Lack of hygiene control inherent in using polystyrene boxes.
The Distributor
Requirement for necessary insurance to cover both broken polystyrene boxes and resulting damage to contents.
Poor traceability facility results in difficulty to control losses and pilferage.
Cost effective transportation affected by lack of need for back loads.
High costs of administration and paperwork associated with current recording systems.
To overcome all the identified problems associated with the use of polystyrene boxes, the Cool Box Company are introducing a unique, robust, returnable box that can be economically re-used for the transportation of fresh fish.
Cool Blue Boxes incorporate microtechnology for total product traceability.
The all new box is constructed entirely of high specification, food grade polypropylene which uniquely incorporates Microban for highly effective, antibacterial protection. This, combined with all smooth surfaces to ensure ease of cleaning and total sterilisation, mean our boxes are completely reusable.
Incorporates high tech, microchip technology within its construction in the form of an RFiD tag, enabling total traceability of product from supplier to retailer.
Initially available in a convenient 25kg size (46 litre capacity).
Robust 'sandwich' construction gives both a high degree of insulation - very similar to that of polystyrene, but is almost total resistant to crushing.
Box lid incorporates a unique reservoir of food safe, refreezable gel. Lids can be refrozen, or 'recharged', to maintain low temperatures within the box, thus reducing the need for ice.
The dramatic reduction in the need for ice results in more useful capacity for product and less consignment weight attributable to ice.
Boxes can be rented with or without holes making them the preferred containers by distributors and completely airfreight compatible.
Despite high specification construction, the boxes share similar unit cost price with that of polystyrene boxes.
Clever design features ensure that both empty boxes and their lids can be stacked inside each other, thus reducing storage space by as much as 60%.
The overall service offered by the Cool box Company is not only geared around our unique box itself, but also the comprehensive rental service we operate throughout the UK plus most of Europe and Scandinavia.
Rental rates are very simple. They are calculated purely on a 'per journey' basis, regardless of distance.
